As a 501(c)(4) organization, HLPOA is uniquely positioned to work with lawmakers and experienced lobbyists to monitor legislation, protect riparian rights, and advocate for Higgins Lake property owners.

HLPOA is organized as a 501(c)(4) membership association, which allows us to advocate, lobby, and pursue legal remedies on behalf of lakefront property owners. Other Higgins Lake organizations structured as 501(c)(3) charities are legally restricted in these activities.
This structure enables HLPOA to:
- Retain legal counsel to protect property owners’ rights
- File or support litigation when lawful process or fairness is at issue
- Engage professional lobbyists when legislation affects Higgins Lake
- Act collectively and effectively on behalf of its membership
